Introducing the girl behind the camera

Photography has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I picked up a camera when I was seven years old, not knowing then that it would become the way I see the world and tell stories. What started as curiosity and experimentation slowly turned into a creative outlet I couldn’t put down—and eventually, photosbylilyana was born in 2023.

My first ever photo

I was born and raised in Westfield, Indiana, and growing up here shaped the way I notice beauty in everyday moments. From quiet streets to fast paced and ever changing, you still see those familiar faces—those details taught me early on that the simplest moments are often the most meaningful. My little sister was my first muse, and photographing her helped me understand the power of capturing real emotion, connection, and growth as it unfolds.I studied business at Indiana State University, where I learned how creativity and strategy can work hand in hand. That experience gave me the foundation to understand the behind-the-scenes side of building something of my own, while still leading with heart, intuition, and artistry.

Why I Started

The moment I decided to take photography seriously didn’t happen behind a camera—it happened during a night out with my girlfriends over a few drinks. We started talking about life, the future, and what we actually wanted to do with it. When it was my turn, I mentioned how much I loved taking photos in my free time—of anything and everything—and how it had always been something I naturally gravitated toward.One of my good friends immediately pushed me to take it more seriously. She saw something in me that night and gave me the confidence to see it too. That conversation stayed with me, and it became the spark that pushed me to finally go for it. I started building photosbylilyana that night with my instagram, with the hope of turning this passion into a full-time career someday.

What photosbylilyana is about

At its core, photosbylilyana is authentic, emotive, and intentional. I believe the best images come from real moments—not forced poses. I’m drawn to movement, connection, and the in-between moments that often go unnoticed. Every session is guided by feeling first, trusting intuition, and allowing stories to unfold naturally rather than chasing perfection.

As an Aries, I bring bold, intuitive energy into everything I create. I trust my instincts, lean into movement, and let moments happen naturally rather than forcing perfection. I’m deeply inspired by music and aesthetics—songs influence how I shoot, edit, and tell stories. Big pop stars like Harry Styles and Taylor Swift are always on repeat and constantly fueling my creativity.

If you’re curious just how deep this love for documenting life goes, my phone currently holds over 90,000 photos—little moments, details, memories, and inspiration I never want to forget. Outside of photography, I’m a huge cat lover, a total bookworm, and often have an audiobook playing while I edit galleries late into the night. I’m always chasing cozy moments, good playlists, and creative sparks. I’m constantly trying new things, learning, evolving, and finding new ways to romanticize everyday life.
